Itinerary
From the Plains to the Himalayan Foothills. Approx. Distance: 270-275 km. Travel Time: 8-10 Hours. Begin your Himalayan journey from Chandigarh and drive towards Sarahan, passing through Shimla, Narkanda and Rampur. As the road climbs into the Himalayas, the scenery gradually changes from plains to pine-covered mountains, apple orchards and deep Himalayan valleys. Highlights: Shimla, Narkanda, Rampur, Bhimakali Temple, Apple Orchards, Shrikhand Peak Views, Scenic Himalayan Viewpoints, Evening village walk. Overnight Stay: Sarahan.
Into the Magnificent Baspa Valley. Approx. Distance: 85-100 km. Travel Time: 4-6 Hours. After breakfast, continue deeper into Kinnaur Valley. Drive towards Sangla through Kinnaur Gate, Tranda Temple and Karchham Dam. The journey follows dramatic mountain roads and opens into the beautiful Baspa Valley, surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. En Route: Kinnaur Gate, Tranda Temple, Karchham Dam, Baspa River, Sangla Valley Viewpoints, Chitkul - the last village on the Indian side. Overnight Stay: Rakchham / Sangla.
From Baspa Valley to the Land of Kinner Kailash. Approx. Distance: 40-45 km. Travel Time: 2-3 Hours. After breakfast, leave Sangla and drive towards Kalpa via Karchham Dam, Tapri and Reckong Peo. Kalpa Sightseeing: Roghi Village, Suicide Point, Narayan-Nagini Temple, Panoramic Kinner Kailash Views. Kalpa is one of Kinnaur most scenic destinations, famous for its peaceful village atmosphere and magnificent views of the Kinner Kailash Range. Overnight Stay: Kalpa.
Entering the Mystical Spiti Valley. Approx. Distance: 210-225 km. Travel Time: 7-9 Hours. Today marks one of the most spectacular transitions of the journey - from the greener landscapes of Kinnaur into the stark dramatic terrain of Spiti Valley. Drive towards Kaza through Khab Sangam, Nako and Tabo. En Route: Khab Sangam, Nako Lake, Gue Monastery, Naturally Preserved Mummy at Gue, Tabo Monastery, Dhankar Monastery. Continue towards Kaza, the administrative and cultural centre of Spiti Valley. Overnight Stay: Kaza.
Explore the High-Altitude Villages of Spiti. Approx. Local Driving: 80-100 km. Travel Time: 6-8 Hours. Full-day excursion through the most fascinating high-altitude settlements of Spiti. Key Monastery - perched dramatically above the Spiti River. Kibber Village - a spectacular high-altitude Himalayan settlement. Chicham Bridge - dramatic views of the deep gorge. Hikkim - famous for its high-altitude post office. Komic - remote Himalayan village surrounded by barren mountains. Langza - panoramic valley views, traditional village atmosphere and giant Buddha statue. Overnight Stay: Kaza.
The Legendary High-Altitude Journey. Approx. Distance: 90-110 km. Travel Time: 5-7 Hours. After breakfast, begin one of the most memorable drives of the entire tour towards Chandratal Lake, crossing the legendary Kunzum Pass. The route takes you through the high-altitude landscape of Spiti with dramatic mountain ranges, glaciers, barren valleys and spectacular Himalayan scenery. Highlights: Losar, Kunzum Pass, Glacial landscapes, High-altitude Himalayan terrain, Chandratal Lake. At approximately 4,300 metres, Chandratal is famous for its crescent-shaped form and crystal-clear mountain surroundings. Sunset experience and overnight camping near Chandratal Lake.
From the High Desert to the Green Kullu Valley. Approx. Distance: 120-140 km. Travel Time: 6-9 Hours. Wake up to the spectacular Himalayan surroundings of Chandratal and begin your journey towards Manali. Drive through the rugged landscapes of Batal and Gramphu, gradually descending towards the greener valleys of Lahaul and Kullu. En Route: Batal, Gramphu, Atal Tunnel, Sissu, Manali. The dramatic contrast between the barren high-altitude Spiti landscape and the greener surroundings of Sissu and Manali makes this one of the most scenic drives of the journey. Overnight Stay: Manali.
Return from the Mountains with Beautiful Memories. Approx. Distance: 310 km. Travel Time: 8-9 Hours. After an early breakfast, begin the return journey from Manali to Chandigarh. Enjoy the final Himalayan views as the road gradually descends through the valleys towards the plains. Route: Manali -> Mandi -> Bilaspur -> Chandigarh. The tour concludes with a drop at Chandigarh, marking the end of an unforgettable journey through Kinnaur, Spiti, Chandratal and Manali. Tour Ends at Chandigarh.
